Volunteers, Volunteers, Volunteers!

We need YOU!

To ensure the success of the Cairns Port Douglas Trail Ultra in 2023, our goal is to double the volunteers at our event. We are offering some fantastic incentives for those runners who volunteer in 2023 by way of complimentary entries for our 2023 event. We have a large range of roles available;

  • Checkpoint Managers

  • Checkpoint Volunteers

  • Marshalls

  • Sweepers

  • Forerunners

  • Medal Awardees CP2, CP3, and Finish Line

  • Forerunners

  • Course Markers

  • Timing Mat Set Up and pack Down

  • Vehicle Sweepers.

Or, if you’d like to gain maximum exposure for your business or running club, why not have your business volunteer at one of our checkpoints, we will add you to our maps, event pages and more. If this sounds like you, email us. We will see how we can support your business in 2023. We are tracking between 6K and 8K visits per month.

Changes to Pacers and Support Vehicle Access between CP3-CP4.

We’ve listened to the feedback from the runners post-event, and to increase the safety of runners on our course, we’ve decided to tweak the rules for the CPTU120 Runners Only. CPTU120 Runners can have a support sweep vehicle following their runner with Hazard Lights on along Black Mountain Road between CP3 Kuranda and CP4 Quaid Rd. The car then must drive back to Kuranda and down the range to meet their runner at CP5 Bottom The Bump Track.

CPTU120 Runners will also have the option to pick up a pacer from CP3 until the finish line and interchange them between CP3-CP4, CP4-CP5, CP5 and Finish Line.

We’ve hired a new team member to assist with admin and qualifications certificates, plus on-the-ground event support. The amazing Ursula Adams joins the Cairns Port Douglas Trail Ultra team. Ursula will sit out of racing the CPTU even though is placed 2nd in the BTU110 2022 and 6th at Ultra Trail Kosi 100Mi 2022; she’s already dug deep into the BTU qualification list plus is also working as an athlete liaison and is passionate about the next wave of trail running talent and supporting at-risk communities. She is also a running coach and a Ciele Running Hats Athlete and Hammer Nutrition Australia Athlete. We welcome Ursula to our growing team.

Time to sign off and get cracking.
